I test drove a Leaf at the auto show in SF and it seems promising. Was surprised, however, that CNET didn't test drive this thing up California Street. Considering all these hills in the? city, I'm curious how the Leaf will handle the power requirements of steep hill climbing. As a local, I'd like to know.

I've been driving ...
I've been driving one of these for 6 months now here in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. We have almost zero charging stations, but the range really hasn't been an issue. I discovered that I really overestimated how far things really are. When? I actually measure the mileage it turns out things are closer than I thought and I don't think I've ever run the battery down more than about 2/3 of the way.

Hell yea, it SHOULD have a luxury feel to it.. its base price is $35 thousand dollars. Pushing $38k for the top model. Until EVs hit the sub $20k mark, they? will never catch on mainstream. Drop all the fancy nav s**t for the measly 80 miles range and give me something that'll hit closer to a realistic 150 mile range under real conditions and I'll bite. Do that and you'll be top!

@aechn The upper tier model? DOES come with a solar panel on the spoiler- Unfortunately it is not part of the powertrain so it is only capable of powering the non-essential system functions

It's the speculators that keep the American market from buying up? the surplus cheaply. The greatest danger to the US economy is the USA itself, not countries that sell it their resources. @Alvord1430 And if you had bough a nice-sized, excellent condition used Honda for $8000-10000, you would have had $10000 left over for gas just from what you saved. Correct? (I mean no offense, I'm just interested in the ACTUAL financial sense? of these cars.)
